UPDATE: Waterton Canyon closed Dec. 10-16

Dec. 09, 2016 - Waterton Canyon will be closed Saturday, Dec. 10, through Friday, Dec. 16, while crews wrap up a construction project. On Saturday, Dec. 17, the canyon will reopen to public access.

The canyon was scheduled to be open this weekend, but a maintenance project on Strontia Springs Dam finished more quickly than anticipated. Crews will be moving a substantial amount of heavy equipment through the canyon this weekend and next week, making it unsafe for recreationists.

Hikers and bikers on the Colorado Trail should seek alternative access points when the canyon is closed.
