Engineer: $5,889.87 min - $7,362.34 mid-point (Exempt)

Denver Water’s Engineering Division/Electrical Engineering Section is currently seeking a qualified candidate to assist us as an Engineer Associate/ Engineer. This position will analyze engineering problems, perform calculations, and develop drawings and specifications necessary to complete final design documents for construction projects. The construction projects cover a wide variety of work located throughout the state and may include: pump stations, water treatment plants, hydroelectric facilities, dam outlet works, commercial buildings, valve vaults, power systems, instrumentation & control systems, cathodic protection systems, fire alarm systems, security systems, communications system, corrosion control systems, and SCADA systems. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, have a strong desire and a passion to assist Denver Water to become the “best water utility in the nation”.
Engineer Associate- Under direct supervision, assists with project design from concept to completion on small or entry type projects. Assist on maintenance of existing facilities, systems, and equipment analyzing/diagnosing issues and improvements through field investigations, testing, and engineering.
Engineer- Under general supervision, completes project design from concept to completion on small or entry type projects including project management, development of contract document, bid/proposal documents, and service during construction. Assist on maintenance of existing facilities, systems, and equipment analyzing/diagnosing issues and improvements through field investigations, testing, and engineering.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Engineer Associate- Analyzes engineering problems and designs solutions and performs calculations and sketches necessary to complete finished designs and construction specifications on less complex projects. Originates and coordinates contracts with consultants and contractors for design or construction of engineering plans for less complex projects. Conducts field observations and inspections, takes measurements and uses laboratory and other analyses in developing solutions to operational problems. Prepares plans and drawings; performs quantity take-offs/estimates, and assembles and checks data. Investigates materials and products through literature research. Carries out the Department’s safety program through job performance and attendance at scheduled safety meetings.
Engineer- Identifies and analyzes routine and complex engineering and operational problems, and reviews or performs related calculations and sketches. Coordinates and collects data through field observation/measurement, laboratory use and other forms of research and analysis. Reviews plans and drawings; performs pricing and costing activities, and investigates and specifies materials and products. Reviews and prepares contract plans and specifications; coordinates construction inspection and contract administration. Carries-out the department’s safety program through job performance and attendance at scheduled safety meetings.
Education and Experience
Graduation from a four year accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
Engineer Associate: No years of experience, does require FE/EIT certification
Engineer: Four additional years of experience as a degreed electrical engineer with a PE required.
Licenses, Registration and Certifications:
Registration or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam in the State of Colorado.
Possession of a standard driver’s license (ability to obtain within 1 month of hire)
