$5,425.33 (min) - $6,618.73 (mid) (DOQ)
Finance Sr. Analyst $5,825.73 (min) - $7,282.60 (mid) (DOQ)

Type of Position: Full-Time, 40 hrs/week               
Location of position: Denver Water’s Administration Building

JOB POSTING:

The Accounting Section within the Finance Division at Denver Water is looking for an Accountant to join the team, position title will be Finance Analyst/Finance Sr Analyst, depending on experience. This position is responsible for financial reporting work, analytical, technical and general financial analysis. May provide financial assistance to other divisions within the organization. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, have a strong desire and a passion to assist Denver Water to become the “best water utility in the nation”.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Finance Analyst (Accountant)

  • Responsible for researching, interpreting and applying Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) reporting requirements.

  • Responsible completing quarterly financial reporting and the annual Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) including the Managements Discussion & Accounting (MD&A), financial statements and notes and ensuring accuracy.

  • Responsible for compiling monthly variance analysis.

  • Regularly exercise judgment to resolve problems and recommend appropriate solutions.

  • Works collaboratively with others, acting as a resource, sharing ideas, recognizing interdependencies.

  • Maintains positive, open communication with team and customers, to ensure understanding of expectations and creation of a positive working partnership.

  • Understanding of governmental accounting and related implications preferred.

  • JDEdwards experience desired.

  • Project duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications for Finance Analyst ( Accountant)

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Finance or Accounting.

  • Minimum 2 years of related work experience.

  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Finance Sr. Analyst (Sr. Accountant)

  • This position may have leadership responsibilities for teams, projects.

  • Responsible for researching, interpreting and applying GASB reporting requirements, as well as educating others on the application of GASB standards.

  • Responsible for compiling quarterly financial reporting and the annual CAFR including the MD&A, financial statements and notes and ensuring accuracy.

  • Reporting for all internal service functions relating to but not limited to, insurance, workers comp, and retirement plans.

  • Assisting the Human Resources Division reporting on employee benefit information

  • Compiles and analyzes information, developing recommendations while taking into account upstream and downstream customers

  • Assisting divisions on financial information and reporting, including operations and capital.

  • Comprehensive understanding of governmental accounting and related implications preferred.

  • JDEdwards experience desired.

  • Perform project work as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications for Finance Sr Analyst (Sr. Accountant)

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Finance or Accounting.

  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience

  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Licenses, Registration, and Certification:

  • May require HIPAA Training.
