Denver Water’s Information Technology Division Infrastructure and Technology Section is currently seeking a qualified candidate to assist us as an IT Asset Analyst. This position is responsible for assisting internal business customers in understanding and controlling their software licensing costs by avoiding legal pitfalls related to licensing by leveraging Industry best practices while expanding Denver Water’s licensing opportunities and building more profitable, long-term relationships with internal customers.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities over other employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing the purchase, deployment, maintenance, utilization, optimization and disposal of hardware and software applications

  • Create and maintain procedures and processes for hardware and software from procurement through retirement of the asset.

  • Manage external software audit requests and work with Legal and IT management to defend our licensing model.

  • Act as IT liaison to ensure compliance with all IT policies and procedures regarding the appropriate use of hardware and software

  • Proactively maintain compliance position for key publishers and titles which includes performing periodic self-audits, engaging and managing outside expertise where required, and providing recommendations for resolution of non-compliant situations

  • Ensure software and hardware purchases are compliant with current IT standards and future direction of established support and maintenance capabilities. Review business requirements against software/hardware capabilities and licensing agreements to ensure the best solution is provided.

  • Monitor the use of software and hardware assets for appropriate license use, maintenance requirements, contract terms, and disposal procedures.

  • Collect information for budgeting, software compliance and inventory, contract summaries and cost comparisons.

  • Maintain and/or implement a proactive strategy for software asset and license management to ensure compliance with the obligations of vendor licensing agreements, ITAM Process, and policies.

  • Manage contracts and vendor relationships to maximize value and costs for software licensing, maintenance, and service offerings.

  • Managing complex licensing arrangements from a variety of vendors such as Microsoft, IBM, Oracle etc.

  • Collaborate with management and Legal to establish internal policy and controls related to hardware and software asset management, governance and compliance.

  • Perform related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or a related field preferred. Minimum 6 years of related work experience. Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Licenses, Registration and Certifications:

  • ITAM Certification preferred

  • Require HIPAA Training.


  • Ability to learn new technologies and platforms in a fast paced environment.  Flexera experience highly desirable

  • Working knowledge of contract terms, licensing laws and best practices highly desirable

  • Experience working on vendor products, including working with vendor on issues and resolutions

  • Experience working with clients and IT leadership in determining and documenting, communicating and implementing requirements

  • Knowledge in Software discovery tools and metering

  • Strong project management and time management skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a cross functional team environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Problem solving and analysis.
