Hiring Salary Range:
Drafter Associate 
$20.03/hr. (min) - $25.04/hr. (mid) (DOQ)
Drafter $23.67/hr. (min) - $30.30/hr. (mid) (DOQ)

Type of Position: Full-Time, 40 hrs. /week               
Location of position: Denver Water’s Administration Building

Position Summary:

The Engineering Division in the Property Management Section at Denver Water is looking for a Drafter Associate/Drafter to join their team! This position is responsible for work under general supervision, perform drafting/technical support duties using AutoCAD (CAD) Systems (GIS). Ability to create detailed computerized engineering construction drawings, maps, and plans and profiles, mechanical equipment and piping, electrical equipment and layouts, and structural detailing. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, have a strong desire and a passion to assist Denver Water to become the “best water utility in the nation”.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Drafter Associate

  • Ability to obtain and review information from record drawings, files, survey notes, photos, and AutoCAD forms in alignment with drafting standards.

  • Create As-Built drawings using AutoCAD, from survey data, inspector notes, and collected GPS points and redline drawings.

  • Create alignments for Asset Recording group (ARG) to accomplish work effort for posting to asset mapping.

  • Perform design related activities including project layout/plotting sheets set plans.

  • Maintain active communication with inspectors, engineers, and surveyors, for any CAD production issues.

  • Perform research, observation, audits, drafting/support tasks of specialized assigned projects.

  • Perform related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications for Drafter Associate 

  • Associate of Science Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Civil EngineeringArchitectural Engineering Technology or related fields, or equivalent vocational certification with major coursework in engineering or Engineering Technology.

  • Minimum of 1 years’ responsible experience in CAD engineering, construction, drafting and or surveying work.

  • Survey experience preferred.

  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Drafter

  • Obtain and review information from record drawings, digital information, survey notes, photos, and AutoCAD forms. Make field trips as necessary to obtain locations and takes measurements and photographs to revise drawings, maps, and projects proposed improvements, and layout construction plans and working drawings.

  • Plan projects, develop and implement programs, and maintain records pertaining to a particular functional area of the department.

  • Develop detailed drawings for water conveyance structures, pump stations, reservoir and dams, mechanical systems, pipelines, electrical systems, treatment process, reinforced concrete, and steel structures, and recreational facilities, from engineer provided design notes, field notes, and digital information.

  • Provide AutoCAD drawings for construction projects while adhering to established milestone schedules and Denver Water AutoCAD and drafting standards.

  • Prepare contract and permitting documents indicating property lines, building locations, rights-of-way, utilities, paving, lighting plans, and other installations and facilities.

  • Create As-Built drawings using AutoCAD, from survey data, inspector notes, and collected GPS points and redline drawings.

  • Create alignments for Asset Recording group (ARG) to accomplish work effort for posting to asset mapping. Coordinate processes and standards between GIS (ArcMap) and AutoCAD.

  • Perform quality control of work product for AutoCAD and drafting standards and development of conformed drawings.

  • Maintain, assist, review, and coordinate active communication with Engineers, Surveyors, Construction Inspectors, Consultants, and Contractors for any design and AutoCAD and drafting Standards issues.

  • Perform related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications for Drafter

  • Associate Degree from an accredited college or university or 2 years training from a Technical college in computer-aided design and drafting (CADD).

  • Minimum of 4 years’ responsible experience in CAD engineering, construction, drafting and or surveying work.

  • Survey experience preferred.

  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Licenses, Registration, and Certification:

  • PMP Certification is desirable.

  • May require AutoCAD Certification.

  • Knowledge of survey, property management and County record research preferred.

  • May require possession of a standard driver’s license (ability to obtain within 1 month of hire).

  • May require HIPAA Training.
