Denver Water’s Operation and Maintenance Division/Support Services Section is currently seeking a qualified candidate to assist us as either an Electrician or an Electrician Senior.

 

The position of Electrician, under general supervision will perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing of electrical systems related to lighting, power, grounding, HVAC, motor control centers, motors, generators, hydro-electric plants, and other electrical systems.

 

The position of Electrician Senior is responsible for performing highly skilled work in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing of electrical systems related to lighting, power, grounding, HVAC, motor control centers, motors, generators, hydro-electric plants, and other electrical systems.  Upload and download complex PLC and SPM programs.  Understand the National Electrical Code for the practical safeguarding of persons and property from hazards arising from the use of electricity.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Electrician:

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex electrical equipment related electrical systems, and knowledge of fire alarm related work.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment to diagnose potential problems related to the equipment’s operation.

  • Disassemble and replace components, reassemble and test electrical equipment to verify optimum performance utilizing standard testing devices.

  • Install standard materials related to the electrical industry as directed by the National Electrical Code such as electrical conduits and other electrical type materials.

  • Assist with ordering and scheduling of materials. Implement and manage other shops or sections involved in common projects.

  • Educate and instruct subordinates regarding electrical codes, engineering standards, and safety hazards associated to the industry.

  • Pull necessary permits for electrical work. Ensure standards and codes are enforced.

  • Utilize computer software programs for documents and work orders completion.

  • Perform related work as required.

  • Design and layout work from blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and work orders as required. Assist with ordering and scheduling materials.

  • Implement and manage other shops or sections involved in common projects.

  • Educate and instruct subordinates regarding electrical codes, engineering standards, and safety hazards associated to the industry.

  • Utilize computer software programs for documents and work orders completion.

  • Oversee electrical and electronic operations of hydroelectric plants, pump stations, and treatment facilities.

  • Troubleshoot and maintain electrical and electronic equipment in hydroelectric power plants, pump stations, and water treatment facilities.

  • Perform related work as required.

 

Minimum Qualifications for Electrician:

Education and Experience:     High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 4 years of related work experience. Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Licenses, Registration and Certifications:

  • State Journeyman Electrician License.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class ‘R’ Colorado driver’s license, and have a satisfactory driving record.

  • May require HIPAA Training

    Skills/Competencies:

  • Trouble-shooting and repair.

  • Use of electrical tools.

  • Verbal and written communication.

  • Fabrication and design.

Organization and supervision skills.

Minimum Qualifications for Electrician Senior:

Education and Experience:     High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 5 years of related work experience. Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Licenses, Registration and Certifications:

  • State Master Electrician License.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class ‘R’ Colorado driver’s license, and have a satisfactory driving record.

  • May require HIPAA Training

    Skills/Competencies

  • The use of electrician type tools.

  • Installation and maintenance of electrical systems, materials and equipment.

  • Apparatus ranging from 110 – 13,000 volts

  • The use of power and hand tools and measuring instruments.

  • Reading electrical drawings.

  • Leadership skills.

  • Interpersonal relations.

  • Organization and time management skills.
