Gross Dam Road and Highway 72 intersection improvements begin
Beginning the week of Feb. 13, Denver Water’s contractor, Kiewit-Barnard, will begin work on improvements at the intersection of Gross Dam Road and Highway 72. These improvements will reconfigure the current intersection, improving sightlines and allowing trucks to safely navigate the turn, permanently improving safety for residents, visitors and workers.
Construction activity will continue through summer 2023. In general, work hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday. This work is weather-dependent and timeframes are subject to change.
Traffic control will be in place for the duration of the work. Travel on Gross Dam Road will be restricted to one-way at the intersection; in general, traffic will only be allowed to exit onto Highway 72 from Gross Dam Road to support the safety of the public and work crews. As with all projects impacting roadways, we will ensure access for all emergency vehicles and continue to coordinate with local public safety personnel.
Motorists should use caution when driving in the impacted areas and follow all on-site staff instructions and detour signs accordingly. We recognize that this will impact area residents and thank you in advance for your patience.
We will provide periodic updates via email, and will continue to provide project updates via the project My Map.
