Notice of on-site closure of Gross Dam Road
COAL CREEK CANYON — April 24, 2020 — Access to trails, viewpoints and shorelines on the south side of Gross Reservoir will be closed on weekdays between Monday, April 27, and Friday, May 8, for watershed protection activities in coordination with the Colorado State Forest Service.
Denver Water will close Gross Dam Road on the south side of the reservoir to allow for the safe movement of trucks and other equipment associated with the forestry project, which covers 2 ½ acres. The forest management work is part of longstanding agreements with CSFS to protect the reservoir and watershed from the impacts of forest fire.
It’s important to emphasize the closure is not associated with recreation restrictions tied to COVID-19, nor to any element of the Gross Reservoir Expansion Project. Picnic shelters on the south shore are already closed as part of the effort to encourage social distancing during the coronavirus outbreak.
