Chillin' like a fillin' Dillon

Denver Water's largest reservoir is now full — good news for Denver and Summit County.

With a capacity of 257,304 acre-feet (or about 84 billion gallons) of water, Dillon Reservoir in Summit County wears its title as Denver Water's largest reservoir proudly. In fact, Dillon holds about 40 percent of the water supply stored for the Denver metro area.

Dillon is now full and at its capacity elevation of 9,017 feet above sea level in 2017. That is the goal every year, but it certainly doesn't always happen.

Beyond providing water to Denver, Dillon also plays a very important role in the Summit County community as a recreation destination and economic driver. That has made it one of Denver Water's most complex reservoirs to manage.
