What to expect recreating at Gross Reservoir in 2024

by Jessie Strobel | May 23, 2024 | News

As the Gross Reservoir Expansion Project continues, you can still enjoy hiking, fishing and boating from the North Shore. Here’s some helpful information to make your visit as enjoyable as possible.

Access and parking
During the Gross Reservoir Expansion Project, the North Shore parking lot at the intersection of Gross Dam and Flagstaff roads is the best place to park to access the reservoir.

Boater shuttle
The 2024 boating season runs from May 24 through Sept. 30 for human-powered watercraft, including canoes, kayaks and paddleboards. Visitors should park at the North Shore parking lot where a free shuttle is available to bring boats and recreators from the parking lot to the shoreline.

The shuttle is scheduled to run Friday through Monday from approximately 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Check out our TAP story Big changes for recreation at Gross Reservoir to learn more about the shuttle and recreation areas that are open during the construction project.

Ongoing construction activities
Visitors may be impacted by construction activities while recreating at Gross Reservoir, including lane closures along Gross Dam Road and temporary closures of some on-water and off-water recreation activities. Please stay safe, do not cross buoy lines and follow all posted notices and on-site personnel instructions.
