Keeping reservoirs like Dillon clean and pristine

Five-year agreement brings funding to reduce catastrophic wildfire risk in critical watersheds.

Denver Water, the U.S. Forest Service Rocky Mountain Region, Colorado State Forest Service and Natural Resources Conservation Service are  investing $33 million over five years for forest restoration projects in Denver Water’s priority watersheds.

The renewed and expanded From Forests to Faucets program will focus on forest restoration and wildfire-fuel reduction projects upstream and around many of Denver Water’s reservoirs, like Dillon Reservoir (pictured). The goal is to reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires near critical water delivery infrastructure.

Under the original 5-year From Forests to Faucets program, more than 48,000 acres of National Forest System lands were treated with fuels reduction, restoration and maintenance activities.
