When one of the first cans of Denver Water’s 100th anniversary commemorative beer from Declaration Brewery landed in the hands of Gov. John Hickenlooper, what did the former brewpub owner do?

He sampled it, and gave his review of the Centurion Pilsner.

The Centurion Pilsner was crafted with water passed through a unique purification process earlier this year.

Denver Water partnered with Declaration Brewery to use water from the PureWater Colorado Demonstration Project. It was the first time that water used and purified in Colorado was reused to make a batch of craft beer.

The beer is available on tap at Declaration Brewery’s Preamble Tap Room at 2030 S. Cherokee St. in Denver. The beer also will be available at Denver-area liquor stores later this summer. (Check back on TAP, we’ll share a list of stores carrying the beer when we have that information.)

Proceeds from sale of the Centurion Pilsner will be donated to fund scholarships offered by WateReuse Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Chapter of AWWA. The scholarships are an investment in creating the next generation of water professionals and operators.
