Prepping for the 2019 Parade of Lights, Rocky style

Get ready, Denver: We’re bringing mountain magic — and a trotting commode — to Denver’s grandest holiday tradition.

Each year, thousands of people gather on two oft-frosty December nights in downtown Denver to celebrate the holidays at the 9NEWS Parade of Lights.

The joyous event is free (!!!) and features marching bands, balloons, floats and, as all great parades should, a running toilet.

For the past four years, Denver Water has been a proud participant in this beloved event, bringing with us our “Mountain Magic” float, a crew of dedicated employees and, of course, everyone’s favorite jogging john.

Why is your local water provider joining the Denver tradition that is the Parade of Lights?

A few reasons, actually:

  1. Parades are awesome.
  2. In Denver and throughout Colorado, water truly connects us all. What better place to connect with the community we love?
  3. It’s the Running Toilet’s favorite event of the year.

If you check out the parade this year, be on the lookout for our float, which celebrates the gift of mountain snowpack by following the journey of water from mountaintop to tap, complete with reservoirs, the Moffat Tunnel, rivers (kayakers included) and more.

The 44-year-old event takes place Friday, Dec. 6, at 8 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m.

Come celebrate with us and the community, and, as is always good practice, help stop the running toilet. He’s been training harder than ever and claims to be in the best shape of his life.

But we’ll let you be the judge of that …
